Books and Reading

Hi everyone! Today I´m going to talk about books and reading.
Firstly, I would like to say that I don´t  consider myself like a book worm person, but I like read books, papers, internet articles or some magazines about different topics, almost  about religion, psychology, among others. Since I was a child, I liked to read books, but  the most of them corresponded to the reading syllabus of the school.  Even though I don´t carry an account about the books that I read, I think there are many (among sixty). Maybe, that figure doesn´t seem so great, but it´s significance to me.
I have to say that I prefer books that talks about reality (or non-fiction), and especially those who talks about drug addictions or different problems about life (death, happiness, routine, etc.). I don´t have a favorite writer, but I really enjoy reading Gabriel García Marquez´s books or those from Mario Vargas Llosa.

I don´t remember very well the last book I read, bit I think it was an academic one, called Arbol del Conocimiento, from Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela. That book was so amazing, I really enjoyed it, and is not difficult to read. The main idea of the book is trying to study how living things are configured, proposing some theories that may help to understanding the knowledge of it. With all my heart, I recommend this book, and also the independent work of both authors, because they  have interesting theories and postulates about life and others aspects (I read some interviews  about Maturana y Varela´s works and  their relationship with some religions, like Buddhism and Christianity)

Link between violent video games and aggressive behaviors

What is the link between violent video games and aggression? (By Pete Etchells). The Guardian, Thursday 19 September 2013 07.00 BST. http://www.theguardian.com/science/head-quarters/2013/sep/19/neuroscience-psychology.

This article is about a compendium of different studies related to describes the relation or effects between violent video games (or any violent media) and the aggressive behaviors.
In the beginning of this article, the author explains that this theme has been investigated for a few decades ago, but continues to be a controversial theme in the actuality, although because it has recently been reported a lot of attacked and robbed that will probably been related to this violent games.
In a second part, this article describes some studies that support the main idea that video games are link with aggressive behaviors. An example of that is the one that been published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, that proves that the participant that played video games after a competitive task are more aggressive that those who didn´t.

However, the author explains that the context is also a very important variable. A lot of studies proves that the aggressive behaviors are not the same if the context of the games change. For example, is not the same playing a video games by yourself, that playing to protect the life of a friend.

Finally, the article tries to express that it can´t be possible conclude this theme, because the published studies postulate different ideas and some methods were not very adequate.

Sailor Moon!!!

Hi classmates! Today I`m going to talk about Japanese animation.

I really don`t know many things about this kind of animation, but i know that is an animation that is based in manga or cartoon strip that talks about diferent topics like love, wars, galaxy`s travel, etc.

Eventhow when I was a little girl I didn`t like Japansese animation, I watched a few like “Caballeros del Zodiaco”, “Gato cósmico” and my favorite one “Sailor Moon”.  I remember that every afternoon, after school, my sister and I sat on the couch to watch it and sing the opening soundtrack. My favorite character was “Marte”, the red girl that had the power of fire. Also, we were in love of Tuxedo Mask, the sexy boy of this anime.

Altoghut  Japenese animation and others areas of Japenese culture hasn`t influenced my life in an importan way (because I liked Dysney`s cartoon), I have to say that Sailor Moon was one of the most important cartoons of my childhood, and also my first anime.

Finally, I can say that one thing that I really dislike about Japanese animation is the overacting of the character, like all the tears and sobs of the girls in Sailor Moon.

A country I would like to visit

Hi classmates!!! Today I´m going to talk about the place I would like to visit.

Even if is not a country, I´d love to visit Rapa Nui because I´ve always considered it a very mystique island, with a very exquisite culture. I have heard from some friends that already visited the island,  that the food, hotel or things like that are very expensive, at the same that ticket´s airplane. Also, I have heard some rumors that island´s men are very sexist and ladies´man.
If I went there I would like to visit all the museums and the Moais, talk to the locals and practice their typical dance called Sau Sau. Besides, I would like to walk around the coast and eat their typical food. If I have the opportunity, I would like to watch their particular competitions, but I think these are done in a specific period.
Although I wouldn´t like to work or live permanently at the island, because I will missed my family and all my social environment, I think I would like live some months (one or two) to have the chance to learn a little bit about this beautiful culture

My ideal Job!

Hello my name is Camila and I’m going to talk about my ideal job. I have to say that I´m not 100% sure what my ideal work is, but I´m considering to work as psychology at CESFAM or any other medical center, specifically on the infants-teenager´s area. I would need a lot of skills to this job like patience with the patient, creativity to use original methods to work with kids or teenagers, empathy to create a comfortable atmosphere, among others. I think that I’m good at listening problem´s people so I can be able to help them, creating that comfortable atmosphere. However, I think I have to develop more creativity and patience with the different process that all the patients would pass.

One of the problems that I could find is maybe there are not vacancies or if there are, still be don’t enough. Because of that, another possible problem could be the low salary. However, I think that issues can´t stop me to pursuits that work.
